OECC is a quality, community (not for profit) Centre and is set up as an Incorporated Society. Essentially this is for funding purposes, but it also provides a set of Rules which defines how the Centre operates and its objectives. More about this can be found in our Welcome Booklet.
The Centre also operates as a Parent co-operative. This means that Parents will have a voice as to how the Centre operates. We encourage our families to attend our regular meetings so they can have their input in the decision making.
Return to top of pageAs a Parent Co-operative, Parents are asked to do "Parent Help" sessions, according to the total number of sessions their Children attend each week.
There is the option to pay a substitute Parent Help $30/session if this is more suitable, or we welcome extended family members to fill in for you instead.
The Centre Children benefit from the higher number of adult supervision and quality interactions. It also enables the Centre to keep its Fees at a lower rate.
The permanent staff of Onewhero Early Childhood Centre is comprised of 4 qualified and New Zealand registered Teachers and 1 staff member in Training.

We have opted into the 20 Hours Free ECE for 3 and 4 year olds. An attestation form will need to be signed if Parents wish to be part of this. We also rely on fees in order to cover all costs. An invoice is given to Parents at the beginning of each term. We ask that these fees are paid either in advance at the beginning of the term or by a regular weekly/fortnightly amount throughout the term. Fees should be fully paid by one of these options by the end of the term. A Work and Income Childcare Subsidy is available for eligible families. An application form is available from the Centre if you require one.
Onewhero Early Childhood Centre is located within the grounds of Onewhero Area School. Centre Children visit the school library and New Entrants' class on a regular basis, which helps them become familiar with the environment and routines of the school. We also work with many of the local schools to promote good relationships for the Children and families.
